I click on the ''play file icon'' or ''play current playlist'' but the file(s) doesn't start to play (or the files start to play in the wrong music-player).

This error can occur because of a number of circumstances:

No file starts to play when you click this icon:

1. You don't have a suitable music-player installed.
Try to install for example Winamp.

2. The application you want to use for playing files is not mapped up for playing .m3u-files.
If you are using winamp there is a very simple way to solve this:
  • Open Winamp
  • Go to Options -> Preferences

  • Go to Setup -> File types
  • Make sure that m3u is selected in the list.
  • Click Close

    3. You don't have access to the file.
You might not have access to the file in question at all. For example if the file was mapped as a local file (c:\file.mp3) and you are on a remote computer without having the correct replacement rules set up.
Or if you are using network shares windows 95 machines might have problems to access a windows 2000 share due to differences in the sharing techniques. If you think this might be the cause, hover over one of your search-results and the full path should be visible.
